Pinback

T Rex Fest announces Pinback to finish the lineup!

Hailing from San Diego, Pinback is a band comprised of two principal players: Armistead Burwell Smith IV (Zach) and Rob Crow. Pinback started as a part-time endeavor back in 1998, when Zach’s band Three Mile Pilot went on an extended hiatus and Rob found time away from his other musical interests (mainly Thingy and Heavy Vegetable). After recording their self-titled debut, released by Ace Fu in 1999, Pinback became a fully realized project.

El Ten Eleven

T Rex Fest announces El Ten Eleven!

“The Los Angeles group, comprised of drummer Tim Fogarty and bassist/guitarist Kristian Dunn, set themselves apart from other power rock duos that have been so popular of late by playing an almost jazz-like frenzied rock. The seasoned performers, who have been together since 2003, create a hybrid sound harkening back to progressive jazz rock bands like Mahavishnu Orchestra or Return to Forever, but with a 21st century twist reminiscent of bands like Radiohead. Dunn, alternating on a 12-string guitar and a fretless bass, played frenzied jams modified by an array of electronic enhancements triggered by a sea of foot pedals. Fogarty complemented him with a relentless drumbeat. Listening to the intense wall of sound, it (is) sometimes hard to believe that it was being created solely by a duo of masterful musicians.” -L. Paul Mann, JamBase

Leslie And The LYs

T Rex Fest announces Leslie and The LYs!

Leslie and The LYs put on such a stellar show at The Pyramid Scheme in March, and for those that missed it, here is your second chance!

“As a rapper, gem-sweater museum curator, children’s television-show star and overall Internet phenom, Leslie Hall covers quite a few bases. But when flanked by her crew, the LYs, the Iowa-bred diva becomes an audience-commanding, plus-sized powerhouse…Over the last half-decade, she’s managed to shoot far beyond her twenty-something social-networking fan base, making appearances on both the televised and touring renditions of eccentric children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba!Whether Leslie and the LYs are churning their butter or showing off their body rolls, their performances emphasize fun, including the importance of a sense of humor in a world of disillusioned pop-culture norms and Internet meme sensationalism.” -Bree Davis, Denver Westword Music

You can stream her latest album, Destination Friendship here.
